We all know the importance of a dedicated skincare regime when we’re awake – we’ve got our morning cleansing and exfoliating routine nailed. But making sure that level of care extends to nighttime is often a little more difficult…Mainly because we’re super-tired, and hitting the pillow face-down after a long day is higher up on our list of priorities than a 7-step cleansing ritual.

But we have to tell you – looking after your skin before bed is *just* as crucial as doing so in the daytime, because if you think about it, you’re asleep for a whopping third of the day, so failing to keep your skin clean, hydrated and moisterised for that length of time could speed up the ageing process and induce wrinkles. And if it’s one thing we don’t want to worry about right now, it’s wrinkles.That’s we’ve collected nighttime beauty tips from 8 celebs, as so you can revamp your bedtime beauty ritual…

1. Khloe Kardashian


Khloe’s routine is pretty kick-ass, and not all that complicated, which is a bonus. To start, Khloe removes all of her makeup with MAC face wipes because [‘you] gotta take off that face paint first’, she said on her app, adding that no-one should ‘skip this step’. Next, she washes her face with Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser, which she says is ‘hands-down the BEST cleanser for breakouts.’ Then she uses Bio Oil (which we can totally get from Boots), and lets it seep into her skin. Khloe also uses a clay facial mask, which is good for drawing out the skin’s impurities and toxins, before finishing things off with an overnight serum to keep her skin hydrated all night long. 2. Suki Waterhouse


Retinol is a vitamin A derivative, which can help reduce the prevalence of acne and wrinkles, so no wonder Suki Waterhouse is an advocate. Speaking to The Telegraph, Suki she said she uses any retinol-heavy skin ‘at night twice a week’. We’re totally going to start checking all our cream labels, stat.

3. Jourdan Dunn


When Jourdan shared photos of her extensive range of favourite creams for day, night and facials on Instagram recently, the internet went into melt-down, mainly because there were like, 50 products that totalled around £200. But on closer inspection, the supermodel’s nighttime routine isn’t that bad, and she wrote online that all her product recommendations were totally genuine. 4. Kendall Jenner


Keeping things simple, Kendall told Estee Lauder that her ‘nighttime ritual is easy: Wash my face, hydrate, drink a relaxing tea and chill.’ Sounds good to us, Ken! The model also aid that when she does opt for a skincare product, her favourite is the ‘Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery PowerFoil Mask’ which she applies once a week. ‘It is super hydrating and helps restore my skin’s brightness’ Kendall revealed. The super also swears by going bare-faced on a plane, adding: ‘I never wear makeup on the plane, that’s my number-one rule. I’ll moisturise before heading to the airport’.

5. Gwyneth Paltrow


As a self-taught natural health guru, Gwynnie knows why adopting a scrupulous beauty routine before bed can improve body and mind. ‘I take an Epsom salt bath every night to wind down’ the actress told Elle. ‘I use a lot of organic essential oils on my pressure points.’ Sounds like the perfect antidote to a stressful day.

6. Blake Lively

Blake’s blonde, toussled waves have become a signature part of her look, and she pays her locks close attention day and night. ‘My hair can get kind of frizzy and big, so I leave in a hair mask, rather than rinsing it out all the way’, she told Harpers Bazaar. Blake also recommends braiding your hair before bed: ‘Take the ponytail and braid it, kind of haphazardly, so that it’s not just three pieces of hair. You should take random chunks, braid it, and twist it. It’s a more interesting nighttime look that takes about 12 seconds’, she said.

7. Emma Watson 


A girl after our own heart, Emma knows that an arduous beauty routine isn’t always fun, and sometimes less is more: ‘I keep an emergency pack of makeup-remover wipes by my bed for when I’m too tired and really don’t want to go through the whole process’, she said to Glamour. But when she’s being good, Emma opts for Lancôme Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover because ‘after the red carpet or a shoot, this removes makeup without me having to scrub my eyes, which is horrible’ – yeah, we hate that too (the facial scrubbing – not the inconvenience of attending red carpet bashes, obvs).
