One main complaints we have about makeup is that we can’t get it to stay on our faces. Here are 5 ways to help your makeup last all day. Check it now!

We spend all day talking (usually more that we should), eating (need I repeat?) and rubbing our tired eyes, so we definitely put our war paint through its paces.

Here are 5 ways to help your makeup last all day and stay put, where you want it.

Use the right primer

If you’ve been putting your makeup on without a primer and moaning about its staying power, you only have yourself to blame.

Primers perfect your skin to make a good base for foundation and concealer to cling to.

Introduce one into your regime and you’ll definitely see a difference.

Choose one that’s right for your skin type however – there’s no point in using a mattifying primer if you have dry skin as you would be more suited to a hydrating one.

You need a powder

Make sure that you set your foundation and concealer with a light dusting of translucent powder.

Use it sparingly and it won’t change the finish of your foundation, but it will help it to remain in place.

Make sure you tackle your t-zone and under your eyes as these are the areas where we get oily and sweat, which breaks down our makeup and makes it slide off.

The Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder is amazing.

Try a setting spray

There are the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to setting sprays, but a good one can add hours to the life span of your perfectly painted face.

Once you’ve finished putting on your makeup, spray some liberally over your skin and allow it to dry naturally.

Urban Decay’s All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray is a great choice, as is the more budget NYX Dewy Finish Long-Lasting Setting Spray.

Use a waterproof mascara

If you can’t stop yourself rubbing your eyes when you’re tired, waterproof mascara is your friend.

Try the Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Mascara and They’re Real Liner.

This stuff won’t budge, not even in a rainstorm.

Layer it on

Applying all of your makeup in multiple thin layers instead of slapping it on thick will help it last longer.

Build up the opaqueness of your foundation, eyeshadow and lipstick in light layers until you get the look you want.
