Rita Ora has issued a personal denial on Twitter over claims she is the woman with whom Jay Z, Beyoncé’s husband, allegedly had an affair with after the superstar’s fans were quick to blame her.
Although rumours that the rapper cheated on Beyoncé have been around since her sister, Solange Knowles, attacked him in a lift in May 2014, they have been given further credence after the release of Lemonade, a visual album.
Songs on the acclaimed album from Beyoncé include lyrics such as “You can taste the dishonesty / It’s all over your breath as you pass it off so cavalier” on Pray You Catch Me and “He only want me when I’m not there / He better call Becky with the good hair”.
Fans of Beyoncé – dubbed collectively as the Beyhive – have been chasing who ‘Becky’ might be including Rachel Roy, a fashion designer, who faced a social media storm after a post on Instagram after the release of Lemonade. Roy has also denied the rumours.
On the photo-sharing website, Roy shared an image with the caption: “Good hair don’t care but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light #nodramaqueens.”
And soon after, Rita Ora was accused of being the other woman afterwearing a Gucci dress that the singer wore in recent Formation music video, which also features on the album and addresses the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
Ora, who Jay Z signed to his label Roc Nation in 2008, denied the rumours on Tuesday, saying: “I never usually address tabloid gossip but let me be clear, these rumours are false.”
Among many images that were used to accuse Ora, one was an image of the poster of the 1973 film, Ash Wednesday, that she shared on her Instagram page. In the film which features Elizabeth Taylor, a woman fears she is losing her husband.
